Steam or dry heat — which do I need?

Steam sterilization suits most instruments, liquids, and culture media, and works at lower temperatures in less time. Dry heat is for items steam would damage or cannot penetrate — powders, oils, greases, and certain glassware. Many labs run a steam autoclave as the primary unit and add a dry-heat sterilizer for the exceptions.

Do I need a model with a dryer?

Choose an SM series with the integrated drying cycle if wrapped instruments or glassware must come out dry and ready to use immediately. If you can air-dry loads, an SN, SQ or SQL without the dryer covers the same sterilization at lower cost.

What capacity should I buy?

Size to your peak load, not your average. An 18–30 L benchtop unit suits a single bench or small clinic; 47–80 L fits a busy shared lab; 110 L is for high-throughput operations running multiple cycles a day. Tell us your typical load and we will size it with you.

Can these sterilize liquids and culture media?

Yes — the multi-course SN, SQ and SQL models include dedicated liquid and media-melt programs, plus keep-warm for agar. Match the course to the load rather than running everything on the instrument cycle.
