How to choose

Can these be autoclaved?

Borosilicate media bottles are designed for it. Autoclave with the cap loosened — a sealed bottle builds pressure and can fail — and let it cool before tightening. Polypropylene bottles vary: check the rating, and expect a shorter life under repeated cycles.

Why GL45?

GL45 is the standard 45 mm thread that media bottles, caps, pouring rings, dispensing connectors and tubing ports are all built around. It is what makes a bottle part of a system rather than a one-off, and it is why a GL45 bottle can take a bottle-top dispenser later.

Clear or amber for media?

Clear is normal for media, because seeing turbidity is how contamination is caught early. Amber is for light-sensitive components — many vitamins, riboflavin and some antibiotics degrade under light, and a clear bottle on a lit shelf will quietly lose potency.
