Why plant air is a different specification
Two things change once you leave a room. First, volume: a 20,000 sq ft floor under a 20 ft ceiling holds 400,000 cu ft of air, so even a single air change per hour needs roughly 6,700 CFM — more than any room unit produces. Second, filter economics: at plant airflow, disposable media becomes a recurring purchase and a recurring shutdown.
Required CFM = (floor area × ceiling height ÷ 60) × target air changes per hour
A 40,000 sq ft plant at 18 ft holds 720,000 cu ft. At one air change per hour that is 12,000 CFM; at 1.4 it is 16,800 CFM.
Washable filters change the operating cost
The ATOMIKAIR runs five washable MERV-13 filters plus a semi-permanent pre-filter, a mist collector and activated carbon. Nothing in the filter train is disposable, so there is no consumable reorder and no filter-change interval to schedule around production.

How do I size an air purifier for a warehouse or factory?

Warehouse ceilings are the reason room-rated square-footage figures do not transfer to a plant.
