Size it by fresh food per batch: Small 6–9 lb on 4 trays, Medium 10–15 lb on 5 trays, Large 18–23 lb on 6 trays and X-Large 35–45 lb on 7 trays for the Home Pro, and 5–9 lb on 4 trays for the Countertop, which needs no floor space for a pump because its pump is built into the cabinet. The Large and X-Large need a 110 V NEMA 5-20 outlet on a dedicated 20 A circuit; the Small, Medium and Countertop run on a standard 110 V outlet.

The Pharmaceutical models hold more, thinner trays than the Home Pro of the same size (Small 5 vs 4, Medium 7 vs 5 and Large 8 vs 6) and are stainless steel, built for herbs, extracts and compounds. The Scientific (HRFDMSC, HRFDLSC and HRFDXLSC) is the programmable model: recipes with up to 10 thermal-treatment and 12 drying steps on a touch screen, with pressure and temperature logged through the cycle.

The Premier oil pump (OP-VLU11060-PREM) fits Small, Medium and Large freeze dryers; the XL Premier oil pump (OP-VLU-XL) fits Large and X-Large freeze dryers; the oil-free scroll pump (SP-GW11060) fits any size Harvest Right freeze dryer; the XL oil-free scroll pump (SP-GW30011060) fits X-Large freeze dryers. The oil-free scroll pumps need no oil changes. The Countertop has its pump built in and takes none of these.

Use the Fits dryer filter on the Freeze Dryer Trays and Mats, Lids & Molds categories, or open a freeze dryer row and pick “Everything that fits”, which opens every category with an accessory for that dryer, already filtered. Tray sets come in the count that fills each dryer, so a pharmaceutical dryer’s set is larger than the Home Pro set of the same size.

Every Home Pro ships with a Premier vacuum pump, vacuum pump oil, an oil filter, a full set of stainless steel trays, the guide to freeze drying, 50 Mylar bags, 50 oxygen absorbers and an impulse sealer; the X-Large comes with the X-Large Premier pump.
