TrippNT MRI Maui Lab Island Cart — MR Conditional Non-Ferrous HDPE Tambour-Door Island Cart for MRI Suites and Imaging Environments

The TrippNT MRI Maui Lab Island Cart (SKU 51820) is the MRI-safe version of TrippNT’s Maui Lab Island Cart format — an all-HDPE, non-ferrous, MR Conditional mobile island workstation designed for MRI suites, MRI-guided procedure rooms, and any facility environment where ferromagnetic cart components pose a safety or image quality risk. At 24¼″ W × 37⅝″ H × 24⅛″ D, the MRI Maui provides a 24-inch square flat-top working surface with large bulk storage below, accessible through a roll-up tambour door that secures with a key lock and does not require swing clearance in the narrow-aisle MRI suite environment.

Constructed entirely from non-ferrous white HDPE (the same polymer class as TrippNT’s standard Maui and Cayman island carts), with non-ferrous 5-inch twin-wheel casters (2 locking + 2 swivel) rated for the 95+ pound loads typical in fully-stocked imaging supply configurations. The internal stationary shelf with perimeter lip divides the bulk storage area into two independently accessible zones and prevents supplies from sliding during cart movement. The tambour door key lock is a non-ferrous cam lock compatible with the MRI environment. Ships fully assembled and ships on a freight pallet due to dimensions. Pallet freight required.

Laboratory and Clinical Applications

The 51820 is specified for: MRI suite island workstation and supply staging (Zone III/IV boundary mobile island for scan-room-adjacent supply access), MRI-guided intervention procedure room supply management (non-ferrous locked island cart for contrast, monitoring, and procedure consumable staging), MRI research facility workstation (academic and pharmaceutical MRI research), MRI suite patient preparation area supply management, fMRI and research imaging suite supply management, veterinary MRI and research animal imaging suite carts, and any facility where a mobile island workstation with large bulk storage must be positioned in or adjacent to an active MRI magnetic field environment. The tambour door is particularly suited to MRI suite aisles where the cart must be positioned immediately adjacent to patient transfer equipment and a swinging door would create a safety obstruction. Also specified for non-MRI environments as an aesthetically appropriate mobile island workstation where the all-HDPE non-metal construction is preferred for cleaning protocol compatibility (fully autoclave-wipe-compatible surface).

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the 51820 MRI Maui compare to the standard Maui/Cayman island carts?

The MRI Maui (51820) is physically and dimensionally identical to or similar to the standard White Cayman (50592) in body format — HDPE body, tambour door, key lock, internal shelf, flat top, casters. The critical difference is the non-ferrous specification: the 51820 uses non-ferrous casters (no steel bearings or wheel cores), non-ferrous hardware, and is specified for MRI environment use. The standard Cayman (50592) uses ferrous 4-inch casters and hardware that may contain magnetic components making it unsuitable in active MRI zones. Always verify MR Conditional specifications with your facility’s MRI physicist before final specification.

Does the 51820 require a padlock for security, or does it have its own integrated lock?

The 51820 has an integrated key lock mechanism (non-ferrous cam lock) for the tambour door — no separate padlock is required. The key lock secures the tambour door in the closed position with a single key turn, and two keys are included with the cart. Additional 0003 keys (51647) are available for replacement or additional key sets. The lock is non-ferrous and compatible with the MRI conditional specification. For facilities requiring higher-security locking (PIN code), contact TrippNT about electronic lock accessory compatibility for this cart model.
