TempShield CPIGR CRYO-INDUSTRIAL® Gaiters provide CE Cat. III certified splash protection for the lower legs and feet when working with cryogenic liquids down to -196°C (-320°F). Made from advanced waterproof, abrasion-resistant materials, they are universal size — fitting a wide range of shoe and boot types via adjustable Velcro® fasteners. A formed toe cap fit keeps them securely in place; a tab on the upper boot enables quick removal. Sold as 1 pair. These gaiters are also included in the CRYO-INDUSTRIAL® Grip Safety Kit Plus sets.
Features & Benefits
- Cryogenic Protection to -196°C (-320°F): Rated for ultra-cold splash and contact protection in liquid nitrogen, LNG, liquid oxygen, and other cryogenic liquid environments.
- CE Cat. III Certified — EN 511, EN 388, EN ISO 13688:2013: The highest PPE certification category, covering protection against mortal danger or serious irreversible health risks. Standards covered: EN 511 (cold protection), EN 388 (mechanical/abrasion resistance), EN ISO 13688:2013 (general performance).
- Waterproof & Abrasion-Resistant: Multi-layer waterproof construction prevents cryogenic liquid penetration; abrasion resistance protects against industrial floor and equipment contact.
- Universal Size — Adjustable Velcro® Fasteners: Fits a wide range of shoe and boot types. Velcro fasteners allow quick, tool-free donning and adjustment for secure fit.
- Quick-Release Boot Tab: A dedicated removal tab on the upper boot allows fast, one-handed doffing in emergency situations — critical for rapid removal if cryogenic liquid enters the gaiter.
- Formed Toe Cap Fit — Stays in Place: The toe cap conforms to footwear, preventing the gaiter from shifting or riding up during use.
- Lightweight for Comfort: Despite industrial-grade protection, the waterproof fabric construction remains lightweight to minimize fatigue during extended wear.
- ⚠ Caution: Not intended for immersion in cryogenic liquids. Rated for splash and contact protection only.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I use gaiters vs. just gloves and an apron?
Gaiters are recommended when there is a realistic risk of cryogenic liquid reaching the lower leg or foot — during transfer operations where spills can run down toward the floor, when working directly over open dewars or fill points at low height, or in LNG vehicle/equipment fueling scenarios. If your risk assessment shows that lower-leg exposure is unlikely (e.g., small-scale lab dispensing at bench height), gloves and an apron alone may be sufficient. The CRYO-INDUSTRIAL® Grip Safety Kit Plus bundles these gaiters with elbow-length gloves, an apron, and a face shield for complete coverage.
