The SmartBlue E4000 is a blue LED transilluminator with peak emission at 465 nm, matched to green fluorescent stains such as SmartGlow, SYBR Green, SYBR Safe, SYBR Gold, GelStar and GelGreen; EtBr also excites, though less brightly than under UV. Blue light does not damage DNA, which supports downstream cloning efficiency. The 17 × 12 cm viewing surface sits under an amber emission filter cover that lies flat for viewing, tilts for band excision and lifts off for documentation.
