300–400 mL Wide-Mouth Specimen Containers with Screw Caps — PP, Natural, 60/Bag (220-9400-03K)

These 400 mL polypropylene specimen containers feature a threaded wide-mouth neck with screw cap, making them well suited for environmental sampling, regulatory water and sediment testing, and bulk specimen collection at the 300–400 mL scale. Supplied non-sterile in 60/Bag packaging, the natural-color PP construction offers broad chemical compatibility with aqueous buffers, acid preservatives, and organic solvents commonly used in field and laboratory workflows. The wide-mouth opening allows direct dip-and-fill water sampling and accommodates scoops, core samplers, and spatulas without a transfer vessel.

Applications

  • Environmental water sampling — the 400 mL capacity satisfies many EPA and ASTM regulatory volume requirements for field collection
  • Sediment and soil collection — the wide-mouth opening accepts scoops, core samplers, and spatulas directly
  • Food matrix sampling — suitable for composite food sample collection in food safety and regulatory testing workflows
  • Bulk reagent preparation — polypropylene's broad chemical resistance supports preparation of buffers, acid solutions, and organic reagent blends at the 300–400 mL scale
  • Laboratory waste collection — wide mouth accommodates pipette tips, consumables, and liquid waste
  • Sample storage — threaded screw cap provides a leak-resistant seal for refrigerated or shelf storage
  • Industrial and process QC sampling — compatible with a wide range of industrial process chemistries

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these specimen containers sterile?
No — they are supplied non-sterile. For environmental sampling and food testing workflows that do not require sterility, non-sterile containers are standard. If your protocol requires sterile containers, please contact us to discuss alternatives.

Are these containers compatible with formalin and acid preservatives used in environmental sampling?
Yes. Polypropylene offers excellent resistance to formaldehyde/formalin (10%) and dilute mineral acids such as HCl and H₂SO₄, which are commonly added to water and sediment samples for field preservation. Chlorinated and aromatic solvents are not recommended.

Can the containers be used in a water bath or autoclave?
The polypropylene construction carries a thermal rating of approximately 80°C, making these containers suitable for warmed water bath protocols. Polypropylene can tolerate autoclave temperatures, but because these containers are supplied non-sterile and the screw cap fit under autoclave pressure has not been specified, confirm seal integrity with your own validation before autoclaving.

Are companion sizes available for this container series?
Yes — related sizes include a 250 mL container (220-9250-03K, 72/Bag), a 500 mL container (220-9500-03K, 60/Bag), and a 750 mL container (220-9750-03K, 50/Bag), all in the same PP natural wide-mouth format.
