VEE GEE 6168-4762 is the replacement anodized aluminum tension clamp for SIBATA 6168 series filter systems, 47 mm I.D., sold individually. The spring-loaded aluminum clamp with tension screw locks the borosilicate glass funnel (100 mL or 300 mL) to the support base during vacuum filtration, maintaining a secure, leak-free seal under vacuum. The same clamp is used in all four complete 6168 kit configurations — 6168-0001, 6168-0002, 6168-0003, and 6168-0004. Autoclavable. Clamp only — funnel, base, stopper, and filter components sold separately.

Features & Benefits

  • Spring-Loaded with Tension Screw — Secure Vacuum Seal: The clamp's spring mechanism provides consistent clamping force around the funnel-to-base junction, while the tension screw allows precise adjustment to achieve and maintain a vacuum-tight seal. This mechanism is critical for preventing air leaks that would reduce vacuum pressure and slow or stop filtration.
  • 47 mm I.D. — Designed for the 6168 Series: The 47 mm inner diameter matches the outer diameter of the 6168 series funnel-to-base junction, providing a precise fit for both the 100 mL funnel (6168-47100) and the 300 mL funnel (6168-4711) on either base type.
  • Anodized Aluminum — Lightweight, Corrosion-Resistant: Anodized aluminum provides excellent corrosion resistance in wet lab environments while keeping the clamp lightweight. Anodizing creates a hard oxide surface that is chemically resistant to most lab reagents and is compatible with autoclave sterilization.
  • Autoclavable at 121°C: The anodized aluminum clamp withstands autoclave sterilization at 121°C (250°F) — sterilize with the rest of the filter assembly between biological samples.
  • Universal Across All 6168 Kit Configurations: One clamp SKU covers the entire 6168 series — fits both 100 mL and 300 mL funnels and both fritted glass and SS screen base types.
  • SIBATA Precision Manufacturing — Taiwan: Manufactured to SIBATA's precision standards for the 6168 series.
  • 1-Year Warranty: Backed by VEE GEE Scientific's standard accessory warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this clamp fit both the 100 mL and 300 mL funnels?
Yes. The 6168-4762 clamp fits both the 100 mL funnel (6168-47100) and the 300 mL funnel (6168-4711). The 47 mm I.D. matches the funnel-to-base junction diameter in all 6168 series configurations — the funnel volume does not affect the clamp fitting.

My filtration system is losing vacuum even with the clamp in place — is it a clamp problem?
Vacuum loss at the funnel-to-base junction typically points to one of three causes: (1) a damaged or worn clamp that no longer applies consistent clamping force — if the spring tension has weakened or the tension screw is stripped, replace the clamp; (2) a damaged funnel or base rim where the ground-glass mating surfaces are chipped, which prevents a proper seal regardless of clamping force; or (3) a missing or degraded PTFE gasket in SS screen configurations (6168-4741). If the clamp appears physically intact and applies firm, even pressure, inspect the glass surfaces and gasket first before replacing the clamp.
