Technical Narrative

The TrippNT 50704 Small Book Holder with Magnet Mount is a no-drill point-of-use documentation holder engineered for ferrous steel surfaces — BSC side baffles, instrument cart uprights, stainless steel bench panels, and equipment enclosures — where standard operating procedure (SOP) binders, lab notebooks, method manuals, equipment logs, and protocol quick-reference cards up to 1″ thick must be accessible at the point of use without occupying bench space. The open-top ¼″ white PVC U-channel holds standard document binders vertically in a gravity-retained slot; the rare-earth magnet backing provides instant tool-free attachment to any ferrous steel surface and equally instant repositioning as the work zone reconfigures. At 6⅛″ W x 4⅝″ H x 1⅝″ D and 0.40 lb, it accommodates a standard 1″-capacity 3-ring binder, a spiral-bound lab notebook, or a stack of printed protocol sheets in a protective plastic cover.

The open-top design allows vertical removal and replacement without releasing the holder from the wall — one-hand document retrieval. Ships fully assembled. Backed by TrippNT’s 100% Lifetime Guarantee. MRI UNSAFE: the rare-earth magnet presents a projectile hazard in MRI Zone III and Zone IV. For keyhole wall-mount installation, specify the keyhole version of the small book holder.

Frequently Asked Questions

What document formats fit the 1-inch maximum capacity — will a standard 1-inch 3-ring binder, a composition lab notebook, and a spiral-bound protocol manual all fit?

The 6⅛″ W x 1⅝″ D open-top slot accommodates any document up to 1″ thick at standard US letter or A4 binder width. A standard 1″ 3-ring binder (closed) fits with the rings positioned vertically in the slot. Standard composition notebooks (9¾″ x 7½″, approximately ½″ thick) fit. Standard spiral-bound protocol manuals at 8½″ x 11″ with fewer than 150 pages fit within the 1″ depth limit. Items wider than 6⅛″ — such as oversize 11″ x 17″ binders or thick multi-ring binders — will not fit in the 6⅛″ W slot. Verify your specific document format’s closed width and thickness against 6⅛″ x 1″ before ordering for a non-standard document program.

Is the 50704 MRI-safe, and what happens if it is accidentally brought near an MRI bore?

No. The rare-earth magnet backing is strongly ferromagnetic and presents a serious projectile hazard in MRI Zone III and Zone IV environments. The 50704 must not be used in or near MRI suites. In a high-field MRI environment, the magnet would be violently attracted to the MRI bore and could cause severe injury or equipment damage. For MRI suite protocol book staging, specify a keyhole-mount non-magnet version of the book holder and install it on a non-magnetic substrate, or contact TrippNT sales for explicitly MRI-safe book holder options.
