TrippNT MRI Extra Wide Core Cart — MR Conditional Non-Ferrous HDPE Wide-Format Cart for MRI Suites, Radiology, and Imaging Environments

The TrippNT MRI Extra Wide Core Cart (SKU 51731) is TrippNT’s widest MRI-safe mobile supply cart — a 36-inch wide, MR Conditional, non-ferrous laboratory and clinical cart designed for MRI suites, radiology departments, diagnostic imaging centers, and any facility where ferrous metal-containing carts cannot be used in proximity to the scanner without creating magnetic projectile hazards or MRI image artifact. At 36″ W × 33½″ H × 17⅞″ D, the Extra Wide Core Cart’s 36-inch wide flat work surface provides a genuine staging platform for large imaging procedure supply sets, coil positioning equipment, patient positioning accessories, and contrast media preparation that cannot be accommodated on narrower 22–24-inch carts. The extra-wide surface also allows two-person simultaneous access during high-acuity imaging procedures without crowding.

The cart’s non-ferrous construction uses HDPE, PETG, and ABS — no steel, no iron, no magnetic components in the cart body. The 2-inch non-marking, non-ferrous rubber casters are MRI-compatible and allow the cart to be positioned immediately adjacent to the MRI bore zone (Zone III/IV boundary) without creating field distortion. Three ¾-extension non-metal drawers provide organized storage for contrast syringes, monitoring leads, and preparation consumables; the bulk storage area with PETG sliding door holds larger equipment items and supplies. Two side-mounted glove dispensers keep PPE at point of use throughout the procedure. Built-in top handles allow controlled positioning and two-person maneuvering through MRI suite doorways (MRI suites typically have narrow doorways with specific clearance requirements). Ships fully assembled. Must ship LTL freight due to size.

Laboratory and Clinical Applications

The 51731 is specified for: MRI suite Zone III/IV boundary supply staging (scan room adjacent supply access without cart removal from the MRI environment), MRI-guided procedure rooms (contrast prep, monitoring lead staging, coil and positioning accessory organization), radiology department general supply management (wide-format cart for high-volume imaging departments), interventional radiology and cardiac catheterization labs (non-ferrous requirement zones), PET/CT and hybrid imaging suite supply carts, neuroradiology suite procedural supply management, MRI research facility supply staging (academic and pharmaceutical MRI research), pediatric MRI suite child-scale supply management, veterinary MRI and imaging suite supply carts, and any environment where a standard ferrous metal-containing cart cannot be used due to magnetic field proximity requirements. Also used in non-MRI environments where a wide-format, corrosion-resistant, easy-to-disinfect mobile work surface is needed: sterile processing, operating room front-of-house staging, and large-footprint clinical supply management.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does “MR Conditional” mean, and how does it apply to the 51731?

MR Conditional is the ASTM F2503-13 safety classification for devices that have been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MRI environment with specified conditions of use. For the 51731, “MR Conditional” means: the cart is constructed entirely from non-ferrous materials (HDPE, PETG, ABS) with non-magnetic rubber casters — there are no steel, iron, or other ferromagnetic components that could be attracted toward the MRI magnet bore or create image artifact. The cart does not carry an independent ASTM F2503 test certification; the classification reflects TrippNT’s material-based non-ferrous specification. Always verify clearance with your facility’s MRI safety officer and radiologist for your specific scanner field strength and zone boundary configuration before positioning any cart in Zone III or Zone IV.

Does the 51731 fit through standard MRI suite shielded doorways?

MRI suite shielded RF doorways typically have clear opening widths of 34–48 inches depending on suite design and scanner model. At 36 inches wide, the 51731 requires a doorway clear opening of at least 36 inches plus approximately 2 inches of caster clearance on each side (40 inches minimum to maneuver comfortably). If your MRI suite has a standard 34-inch clear opening shielded door, the 51731 will not pass through fully loaded. In that case, the narrower MRI DX Cart (standard Core DX format) or MRI Maui Lab Island Cart (51820) at 24″ wide is the appropriate specification. Always measure your suite’s doorway clear opening before specifying any cart wider than 30 inches.
