Industrial cryogenic liquid handling — LNG transfer, liquid nitrogen distribution, liquid oxygen servicing — exposes workers to splash and cold-contact hazards that can cause irreversible injury in under a second. TempShield CRYO-INDUSTRIAL® Safety Kits (B-SKCL Series) deliver a complete, CE Category III certified PPE set in a single purchase: waterproof GORE-TEX Cryo-LNG™ gloves, an abrasion-resistant apron, and a face shield. The Grip Safety Kit Plus variants add Cryo-Industrial® Gaiters for lower-leg coverage — full head-to-toe protection for floor-level spill scenarios. Cryogenic protection to -196°C (-320°F). All CE Cat. III certified to EN 511, EN 388, EN ISO 4120. Made in USA.

Safety Kit vs. Grip Safety Kit Plus — What's Included

Component Safety Kit Grip Safety Kit Plus
Cryo-LNG™ Gloves (1 pair)
Cryo-Industrial® Apron ✔ (48" elbow / 42" midarm) ✔ (48")
Cryo-Protection® Face Shield
Cryo-Industrial® Gaiters (1 pair)

The Grip Safety Kit Plus adds Cryo-Industrial® Gaiters — boot-top protective covers that shield the lower leg and foot from cryogenic splashes and spills. Gaiters are recommended when working directly over open cryogenic vessels or in environments where foot exposure to cryogenic liquid spills is possible (e.g., LNG transfer operations, liquid oxygen handling). If lower-leg exposure risk is minimal, the standard Safety Kit is appropriate.

Glove Features — Cryo-LNG™ Waterproof Elbow & Midarm

  • 100% Waterproof GORE-TEX Liner: A thin, seamless GORE-TEX membrane provides complete waterproof protection against cryogenic liquid splashes and spills while remaining breathable during extended wear.
  • Abrasion-Resistant Palm: Reinforced palm construction for industrial applications where grip and durability against rough surfaces are required — beyond what standard lab cryogenic gloves provide.
  • Thermal Inner Lining: High-performance moisture-wicking inner glove lining maintains hand comfort during extended cryogenic handling operations.
  • Multi-Layer Construction: Advanced layered build delivers maximum thermal protection with the flexibility and dexterity required for valve operation, hose connection, and other hands-on cryogenic tasks.
  • CE Cat. III Certified — EN 511, EN 388, EN ISO 4120: EN 511 (cold protection), EN 388 (mechanical risks), EN ISO 4120 (thermal protection). CE Category III is the highest classification, covering PPE protecting against mortal danger or serious irreversible health risks — required for industrial cryogenic applications.
  • Elbow-Length (48" apron kits) and Midarm (42" apron kit) available: Elbow-length gloves provide forearm protection for overhead or lateral cryogenic liquid exposure; midarm gloves offer a shorter, lighter option where forearm coverage is not required.
  • ⚠ Caution: Not for immersion in liquid nitrogen or other cryogenic liquids. These gloves are rated for splash and contact protection, not prolonged submersion in cryogenic liquids.

Applications

Designed for industrial cryogenic liquid handling: LNG (liquefied natural gas) transfer and delivery, liquid nitrogen servicing and distribution, liquid oxygen handling, cryogenic system maintenance, and operations in mining, oil and gas, and industrial gas facilities. Not intended for laboratory liquid nitrogen use where brief, controlled contact is the primary risk — for lab use, standard CRYO-GLOVES® may be more appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does CE Category III mean for cryogenic PPE?
CE Cat. III is the highest classification — mandatory for PPE protecting against mortal danger or serious irreversible injury, including cryogenic liquid exposure. Unlike Cat. I or II products, Cat. III requires independent third-party certification and ongoing production monitoring. For industrial cryogenic applications, Cat. III is the legally required standard under EU PPE Regulation 2016/425.

Why can't these gloves be used for liquid nitrogen immersion?
Immersion causes the Leidenfrost effect: the cryogenic liquid boils violently on contact with a warmer surface, trapping cold vapor inside the glove against the skin before it can be removed. No glove certified for splash or contact protection is safe for intentional submersion. These gloves are engineered for splash, spill, and cold-contact — not prolonged liquid contact.

Elbow-length or midarm gloves?
Choose elbow-length for overhead dispensing, high-flow hose connections, or any task where cryogenic liquid could contact the forearm. Choose midarm (B-SKCLMLWP42) when forearm exposure risk is low and a lighter, less restrictive option is preferred. When in doubt, elbow-length provides the margin of safety.
