Globe Scientific 0.5mL Microcentrifuge Tube Rack (456330 series) is a 24-place stackable polycarbonate rack with wells specifically sized for 0.5mL microcentrifuge tubes. Standard 1.5mL racks leave 0.5mL tubes wobbling in oversized wells — loose enough to tip during pipetting, fall over during transport, and create uncertainty about which tube is in which position. This rack eliminates that problem with wells machined to the narrower 0.5mL outer diameter, holding each tube securely regardless of fill level.
Why 0.5mL Tubes Need Their Own Rack

Polycarbonate maintains its rigidity and impact resistance at -80°C — it doesn't flex like polypropylene or shatter like polystyrene at deep-freeze temperatures. Multiple racks stack vertically for organized freezer storage, with each rack holding 24 tubes in a compact footprint. Racks can also couple horizontally with other Globe Scientific racks of the same footprint to form larger workstation arrays on the bench.
