Globe Scientific Reinforced Polypropylene Microcentrifuge Tube Rack (456320 series) is a 24-place rack for 1.5mL and 2.0mL tubes in reinforced PP — the material that combines polypropylene's chemical resistance and temperature range with added rigidity from fiber reinforcement. Standard PP racks flex under a full 24-tube load. RPP does not. The reinforcement also prevents the creep (gradual permanent deformation under constant weight) that causes well openings in unreinforced PP to widen over years of use, eventually holding tubes loosely.
RPP vs. PC vs. Standard PP
Globe Scientific offers three materials for the 24-place microtube rack: reinforced PP (this 456320), polycarbonate (456335), and standard PP racks. RPP provides the best chemical resistance — critical in histology, organic chemistry, and solvent-heavy molecular biology protocols where PC and PS degrade. PC provides superior clarity and impact resistance for freezer-heavy workflows. Standard PP is the economy option for low-demand applications. Choose RPP when the rack contacts aggressive chemicals regularly.
