The Globe Scientific Delphi-X Observer (EDX-1053-PLI) is an advanced trinocular compound microscope engineered for anatomopathology and histopathology. It provides a 25mm field of view through SWF 10x/25mm eyepieces (30mm diameter tubes), 60mm parfocal Plan PLi EIS objectives with enhanced infinity correction, and a sextuple nosepiece with a slot for optional DIC prisms. The 200mm focal length tube lens delivers significantly improved chromatic aberration correction and contrast compared to standard 160mm systems.
What Makes the Delphi-X Observer Different
Most compound microscopes use 45mm parfocal objectives with a 160mm tube lens. The Delphi-X Observer uses a 200mm tube lens with 60mm parfocal objectives and M25 objective threads — a fundamentally different optical design that reduces the angle of light rays through the system, producing sharper images with better color correction at high magnification. The 25mm field of view (vs. the standard 18-22mm) shows significantly more tissue per field, reducing the time pathologists spend scanning slides. The sextuple nosepiece holds six objectives simultaneously, accommodating the full working range plus DIC objectives without swapping.
Optical Configuration
Eyepieces: SWF 10x/25mm, 30mm diameter tubes — the widest field of view in the Globe Scientific compound microscope line
Objectives: Plan PLi 4x/10x/20x/S40x IOS, 60mm parfocal, M25 thread, enhanced infinity corrected EIS system
Nosepiece: Sextuple reversed, with slot for optional DIC prism(s)
Tube Lens: 200mm focal length for superior chromatic correction
Stage: 190 x 152mm with 78 x 32mm mechanical stage
Illumination: 3W NeoLED Koehler
DIC: Optional differential interference contrast prisms (slot pre-installed)
Designed for Pathology Workflow
The 25mm field of view and high numerical aperture objectives are specifically chosen for anatomopathology slide review. Pathologists can see more tissue context per field, reducing screening time on large tissue sections. The DIC-ready nosepiece slot allows adding differential interference contrast for examining unstained or lightly stained sections where conventional brightfield contrast is insufficient. The iCare sensor pauses illumination when no observer is present, extending LED life and reducing heat during long review sessions.
Applications
Anatomopathology and surgical pathology slide review, histopathology research, cytopathology screening, hematopathology peripheral smear examination, advanced brightfield and DIC imaging for research, and teaching histology at institutions demanding the highest optical quality. The enhanced EIS optical system with 60mm parfocal objectives also serves materials science and industrial quality control applications requiring maximum resolving power.
