Conventional tube racks have fixed hole patterns that contact the tube body directly, requiring tubes to be lifted straight out for access. Globe Scientific's Wireless Tube Racks eliminate the bottom rail entirely — tubes rest on pegs positioned along their body only, leaving the tube bottom accessible from below. This open-bottom "wireless" design allows tubes to be examined, photographed, or read by bottom-illuminated instruments without removing them from the rack, and makes cleaning and tube removal faster than closed-bottom conventional racks.
The 25mm Wireless Rack is available in Full Size (40-place, $36.20) and Half Size (16-place, $25.10), in seven colors — Blue, Green, Magenta, Orange, Red, White, Yellow — all at the same price within each size. The nylon construction provides chemical resistance and structural rigidity under load, and integrated handles on each end allow the loaded rack to be moved between bench, incubator, and storage positions without touching individual tubes.
Features and Benefits
Open-Bottom "Wireless" Design: No bottom rail — tubes rest on side pegs only, leaving the tube bottom fully exposed. Enables bottom-illuminated reader access, tube photography, and visual inspection without removing tubes from the rack. Cleaning between runs is also faster with no bottom tray to trap debris or moisture.
Two Sizes for Workstation and Storage Flexibility: Full Size provides maximum batch capacity per rack footprint; Half Size fits half-rack positions in instruments and storage units, allows finer batch subdivision, and is easier to handle in confined spaces. Both sizes share the same color availability and peg design.
Seven Color Options, All Same Price: Blue, Green, Magenta, Orange, Red, White, and Yellow — all identically priced within each size. Seven colors enables finer-grained color coding than the typical 4-color systems: coding by day of week, assay platform, technician, priority tier, or sample group without running out of color options.
Nylon Construction for Chemical Resistance and Rigidity: Nylon provides excellent rigidity under load (no flex or rack lean when fully populated) and resists common lab chemicals, disinfectants, and reagents. Unlike polypropylene racks that can develop slight flex with repeated autoclaving, nylon maintains its dimensional stability over long service life.
Integrated Handles for Safe Loaded Transport: Handles on each end of the rack allow the fully loaded rack to be lifted and moved safely — no balancing a rack of tubes on a flat surface, no risk of tipping during transfers between bench, incubator, centrifuge station, or refrigerator storage.

Laboratory Applications
Tube organization in labs using bottom-illuminated readers, scanners, or cameras that require unobstructed tube-bottom access — the wireless open-bottom design allows direct instrument access to tube bases without removing tubes from the rack
High-throughput clinical and research labs where seven-color coding enables finer batch organization than standard 4-color systems — coding by day of week, assay type, platform, processing status, or technician without running out of distinct color identifiers
Mixed full-size and half-size workflows where full racks hold primary batch runs and half racks handle priority subsets, add-on specimens, or repeat-testing pools that need to move through the processing queue separately from the main batch
Long-service-life rack inventories where nylon's dimensional stability under load and chemical resistance supports extended daily use without the gradual flex and distortion that can affect polypropylene racks over years of autoclave cycles and heavy use
Frequently Asked Questions
What does "wireless" mean for a tube rack?
In rack terminology, "wireless" means the rack has no bottom rail or tray — tubes are supported only by pegs or rails along the tube body, with the tube bottom hanging freely in open air. This open-bottom design allows access to the tube base from below for reading, scanning, or illumination, and speeds up cleaning between runs by eliminating the debris-trapping bottom tray present in conventional enclosed racks.
Which size — Full or Half — should I order?
Full Size provides higher density per rack footprint and is better for large batch runs. Half Size is better for small batches, priority subsets, or when your instrument, incubator, or storage shelving only has half-rack-width positions available. Many labs use a mix of both, keeping full racks for primary batch processing and half racks for add-ons and repeats.
Are nylon racks autoclavable?
Nylon has a higher temperature rating than PP, but Globe Scientific recommends verifying autoclave compatibility with the specific rack before subjecting it to autoclave cycles. Standard 121°C gravity cycles are generally within nylon's range, but repeated autoclaving may cause minor dimensional changes over time. Check Globe Scientific's documentation for cycle parameters and frequency limits for these racks.
