Oxion Inverso vs. Delphi-X Inverso: Choosing the Right Inverted Microscope

Globe Scientific offers two inverted microscope platforms. The Oxion Inverso (this model) covers phase contrast cell culture observation at approximately one-sixth the price of the Delphi-X Inverso (EDI-1053-PLPHFI). Choose the Oxion Inverso for routine cell culture monitoring, confluence assessment, and contamination checks. Choose the Delphi-X Inverso when you need semi-apochromatic color correction, fluorescence capability, DIC, or the higher resolving power required for advanced research imaging.

Phase Contrast for Cell Culture

Phase contrast illumination converts differences in specimen thickness and refractive index into visible contrast — making unstained living cells clearly visible against the culture medium. The PLPH objectives are specifically computed to compensate for the 1.2mm thick plastic bottoms of standard Petri dishes and culture flasks. This means sharp, high-contrast phase images of cells in their native culture environment without any sample preparation.
