The Globe Scientific BioBlue Trinocular Educational Microscope (EBB-4253) provides the classroom-optimized BioBlue platform with a trinocular head for camera attachment. SMP 4/10/S40/S100x oil semi-plan objectives, 1W NeoLED cordless illumination, secured eyepieces, and adjustable rack stop come standard. This is the camera-ready BioBlue — purchase the microscope now and add any C-mount camera when your curriculum requires projected or documented microscopy.

Instructor Station Flexibility

Most classroom microscopy setups use binocular BioBlue units (EBB-4260) at student stations and one trinocular unit at the instructor desk for camera-projected demonstration. The EBB-4253 provides that trinocular instructor capability at the BioBlue price point — significantly less than placing a bScope or iScope at the front of the room. Add the CMEX-18 Pro camera separately for 18MP documentation, or choose the EBB-4253-DC18 bundle for the camera-included package. For a built-in display without a computer, the BioBlue LCD (EBB-4220-LCD) integrates a 7-inch screen directly into the microscope.

Optical Configuration

  • Eyepieces: DIN WF 10x/18mm, secured against removal

  • Objectives: SMP 4x/10x/S40x/S100x oil, semi-plan achromatic, 45mm DIN parfocal

  • Nosepiece: Reversed quadruple

  • Stage: 130 x 130mm with 70 x 28mm double-layer X-Y mechanical stage

  • Illumination: 1W NeoLED cordless with integrated power supply

  • Safety: Adjustable rack stop, secured eyepieces

Applications

Instructor demonstration stations in secondary school and introductory university courses, camera-ready classroom microscopy where the camera will be shared or added later, biology and general science teaching, and prepared slide observation in settings where the BioBlue's student-proof design features are valuable.

Building a Complete Classroom Microscopy Setup

The EBB-4253 is one piece of a classroom microscopy ecosystem. A typical setup includes: 20-30 binocular EBB-4260 units at student stations, one trinocular EBB-4253 (this model) at the instructor desk with a CMEX Pro camera connected to a projector, and a set of prepared teaching slides appropriate to the curriculum. The instructor demonstrates on the projected image while students follow along on their own microscopes. For schools that want every student to have a screen, the EBB-4220-LCD provides a built-in 7-inch display at each station — but at the cost of the 100x oil immersion objective. The EBB-4253 preserves the full 4/10/S40/S100x objective set while adding the camera-ready trinocular head.

Maintenance and Durability in School Environments

The BioBlue's maintenance requirements are minimal by design. The 1W NeoLED has no bulb to replace. The secured eyepieces cannot be lost. The rack stop prevents the most common cause of microscope damage in schools: crashing the 40x or 100x objective into the slide. The APL antimicrobial coating resists the bacterial load from dozens of student hands per week without requiring chemical disinfection of optical surfaces. Cleaning consists of wiping the body with a damp cloth and occasionally cleaning the objective front elements with lens paper and cleaning solution. No annual service or calibration is required.
